Balmoral Beach with the Wright's

Had a wonderful day at the beach yesterday with Jo & her cubs, It was a lovely beach with a cool jetty the kids could jump off & did all afternoon & an inlet so there was no mental waves  the little ones were safe all the time, we had a picnic with "hard boiled eggs" laid by Jo's chooks & lovely cups of tea with shortbread & over priced ice cream for the kids. I love going to the beach it has a calming effect on me & it was lovely to chill with Jo & have a goss xx

Sunday sewing

Very hot yesterday & with all chores done I thought I would do some sewing, I am starting to get a collection together to start selling at the city markets, The bag is for the markets, I found the embroidered cotton in a charity shop & put a white backing & handle on it & the little white drawstring bag I filled with shells  for Jo's bathroom as she's made a few changes in there to give it a new life.

Our Grand Day Out!

On Thursday I took the girls for a train ride, (which they love) into the city with a lovely picnic, including hard boiled eggs, which is a must, a picnic is not a picnic without them!!

We walked to Darling Harbour where there was a free Shark exhibition at the Maritime Museum, It was good, there was a guide that took us round & he was funny with all the kids,

Piles of shark teeth

There was one part where it was all 60's stuff & this boat was there, I loved it very James Bond or I thought it was the sort of one Elvis would be driving in his movies!!

Aterwards we sat on a grassy bank & had our picnic ,followed by an ice cream, then the girls played in the water with fountains & got soaked, they had a ball as it was very hot,
& then went back on the train home,
"Lovely cheap day had by all"

Unexpected Beauty

The other day, Milli & I noticed a shoot sprouting from the ground next to a tree in our driveway, strange really as there is nothing else around & it stood out ,we checked it everyday & as the days went by this beautiful flower has emerged & day by day more & more flowers are coming, we love it but havn't a clue where it's from, we are glad it chose our garden though, nature never ceases to amaze me.

new christmas gifts

I had some lovely gifts for christmas, I love it when people know just what I would like & have put lots of thought into it, as I try to too, I have 2 new hangy things, a gorgeous crochet"d curtain for the doorway with a few shell beads here & there  & a string light with red & white spotty lanterns which I've hung in my bedroom which gives the room a lovely ambience.

New Craft

Well this week I have learned a new craft & I love it, It's Rag Rugging! I got straight into it saucing materials from the local charity shops, cutting it all into strips ready to get going, after 3 days of spiradic working this is what I ended up with!!

Home Made's

Here are a couple of little bags I made yesterday as a try out project, I thought they would be really nice hung up in a bathroom to put bits n bobs in, the larger one has cotton balls in & the small one has a lovely scented soap, I have them in my new cupboard at the moment & every time I open the door it smells divine, as does my walk in robe from my lavender bag..

holiday breakfast

Its so nice not to have to get up early every day when the  girls are on school holidays, no routine rush, although I do love our routine, I must admit its good to have a few lie-ins, didnt get up til 9.30 today & had a lovely leisurely breakfast outside in the warm sun, home made muesli, with toasted bits, different nuts, cranberries & various other berries, raisins, a sprinkling of bran, natural yoghurt, soy milk & fresh strawberries from our garden, yummo....

Later in the morning  Kenya & I  made some cupcakes with my new pink sprinkles, which the girls have taken over, much to my "chagrin" Jo, Rach & Ab's came over for afternoon tea, the girls played & Jo & I pondered over the gorgeous sewing books I borrowed from the library yesterday, later we had a storm, very nice day.
